Emerald Gala Saturday, March 17 IN 2017, the Grande Ronde Hospital Foundation introduced a new fundraising event titled the “Black and Pink Gala.” It was a resounding success in its first year! The inaugural gala raised $15,837 toward the purchase of a 3D mammography machine. The machine was installed this summer in the newly remodeled Grande Ronde Hospital Women’s and Children’s Clinic. 3D mammo- graphy has already helped reduce the number of return scans and biopsies by half. Another benefit is the increased accuracy of early detection, which is crucial in the successful treatment of breast cancer. The 3D mammography machine is one of several purchases the Foundation made last fiscal year. Each year the Foundation identifies areas of need within the Hospital and its clinics to purchase patient care equipment, training materials, infrastructure needs and other patient care-related items. This year’s gala is scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 17, St. Patrick’s Day, featuring the title “Emerald Gala” and the colors of green and gold. The Foundation will be giving guests the feeling of a visit to Ireland—castles, pubs and endless green fields—providing attendees with a sense of wonder and the feeling of visiting somewhere much older and deeper than what they are used to. Attendees will enjoy pre-dinner cocktails at a cash bar and up-close magic by Hart Keene ( hartkeene.com ) who will astound with his tricks, illusions and magic! The air will be filled with music, conversation and an abundance of fun. Dinner will feature the amazing Merlyn Baker of Merlyn’s Catering and a world-class meal, giving the feel of dining in a top-level restaurant in Dublin. The Foundation will then give a presentation showing the impact of gifts, sharing a patient story and discussing how attendees can get involved with the Foundation. Keene will come on stage next and knock your socks off with a world-class show that will have you laughing and amazed at his tricks. Finally, the Foundation will give the oppor- tunity for attendees to get involved and make a commitment to the Foundation. We invite everyone to come and join us for an amazing evening unlike any other in Eastern Oregon. It is sure to be the one night you look forward to all year! Join us!
