Golf event highlights new Urgent Care needs On Saturday, Sept. 12, the Grande Ronde Hospital Foundation hosted its revamped, COVID-19-safe golf fund- raiser at the La Grande Country Club, benefiting patient care equipment and projects. Golfers were screened prior to the tournament, were offered masks and plenty of hand sanitizer, and were encouraged to social distance. A field of 72 golfers comprising 18 teams took to 18 holes to play for their share of the prize fund. Top placers include: ● First-place net score—Eric and Christine Yundt and Bob and Dorothy Kautz ● Second-place net score—Tony and Jamie Haddock and Beau and Michelle Willadsen ● First-place gross score—Clint Williams, Michelle Bell, Russ Scott and Merle Comfort ● Second-place Gross Score—Kyle Dodds, Dana Londin, Max McCullough and Sean Christianson Players had a great time with all the side games and competitions, as well as a fundraising auction and raffle. In the putting contest, players competed for a 65-inch 4K TV. Of six finalists, Stewart Smart came away the winner of the big- screen TV. Players also vied to win a new car with a hole-in-one, and although no cars were given away, there were many close calls, creating a lot of excitement! Bob Brooks won the raffle for a getaway to Skamania Lodge. The raffle is always a popular portion of the annual golf fundraising event. This year’s event was fundraising for a new x-ray machine to be located in the newly opened Grande Ronde Hospital Urgent Care facility in Island City. The addition of imaging services will improve convenience for patients visiting Urgent Care. At the former Walk-In Clinic, when a provider needed x-ray images, they created a referral, and the patient needed to go either to the Hospital’s main campus or to the GRH Specialty Clinic. Having the imaging in-house means patients don’t have to travel anywhere else. The Foundation appreciated all of the golfers, staff and volun- teers who made this event possible and a lot of FUN! Stay tuned for next summer’s event details. LIFE AND HEALTH is published as a community service for the friends and patrons of GRANDE RONDE HOSPITAL, 900 Sunset Drive, La Grande, OR 97850. Jeremy P.
